A Time for Peace to the World by Deveron Richard

Deveron Richard has been working at the ECF Art Centers since 1988, starting at the original site on Martin Luther King Blvd. in South LA; he now works at the studio in San Pedro. Deveron is an artist highly skilled in watercolor and pastel. His subject matter ranges from fantasy and sci-fi to landscapes and portraits. He creates otherworldly characters of hyper-sexualized animals. With each piece he includes a narrative, giving just a glimpse into the microcosms he creates. Deveron sees himself as a student of art, learning from his instructors with an admirable work ethic. He believes art should be “colorful, adventurous, beautiful, silly and historical.” When Deveron’s not creating art, you can find him watching television (anime and sci-fi), listening to smooth jazz or reading his bible.
