Jameel Linzy

Jameel Linzy has been working out of ECF Art Centers' South L.A. studio since 2003. His work is a reflection of his love for communication and connecting with people. He enjoys dialogue and sharing the numerous events of his daily life. In many ways, these dialogues end up being the words and letters scattered throughout his paintings. Jameel also celebrates his African roots through his vibrant color choices, design patterns and sculptural work.

“I like paint. I read a book -- words. Some book have all the states. I learn a lot of words. Find them in the book It’s easy to get the words. I write them twice. When you write them you see them. It’s good. Writing words you learn. It feels good. I look at my work. See pictures, lines, all of them are my words now.”
