Antwan Jones
Antwan Jones has been working out of ECF Art Centers' South L.A. studio since 2003. Antwan Jones’ artwork is profoundly influenced by popular culture, specifically rap and hip-hop music, comic books, horror films and video games. In his paintings and drawings, he fuses references to contemporary culture with historic symbols of life and death to create a kind of multicultural amalgamation of popular signifiers. Jones often inserts his own name or image into the inter-textual universes he creates, expanding the richness and depth of the cultures that fascinate him.
