James Young

James Young has been working out of the ECF Art Centers since 2002. Young’s paintings are bold and expressive, evocative of and informed by performative and sculptural gestures. Across the scope of his body of work, the application of acrylic paint on paper and canvas reveals a desire to explore the materiality and plasticity of the mediums. This exploration of the relationship between the visual and the sensorial through painting takes on a new dimension, in which the artist consistently uses his studio practice to navigate the space between what can be seen and what can be tangibly grasped.
