Humberto Saldana

I started drawing when I was a teenager as a traditional artist, then move on to digital along the way. During that time, Anime was the first thing that got me into drawing since the early 2000's because the style itself was different and it had me hooked when they first aired it on TV. While being a rookie artist, Takehito Harada was one of my inspirations as he's the character designer of a niche video game series, Disgaea and he inspired me to create cast of characters of my own due to his interesting designs.

In 2010, I attended the community college as El Camino College when I was an adult. I took different art courses to study and learn the fundamentals of art for both illustration and graphic design. I begin to feel that my art skills has been evolved throughout the years as I making progress from working hard and trying out different mediums which it helped me in a long run. I would say that my favorite art mediums were hand drawing, illustrations, painting/watercoloring and making comics. Someday, I would like to try and learn sculpting so I can create a figurine of voluptuous women or one of my characters in a 3D form.

Speaking of voluptuous women, drawing women with big bodies was my type of passion to begin with. In Life Drawing/Painting class, there were a few female models I've never seen and their bodies was so different than the ones I normally see. I really admired the shapes and form that no one would have as they inspired me to draw women with voluptuous bodies. However, I tend to shy away when attempting to draw something that involves with nudity as I get nervous because I felt a bit uncomfortable to show it off my artworks to other people or their thoughts about my art until I'm confident enough to share it.
