Juan Pierri 

Juan Pierri has been working out of ECF Art Centers' San Pedro studio since 2007. Juan draws much of his inspiration from popular culture, specifically iconic American celebrities including Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Marilyn Monroe. These figures’ autobiographies are often integrated throughout his body of work, appearing either in clusters or as lines of text interspersed in the compositions of his paintings and drawings. Juan has carefully studied the photographs and biographies of each of these figures. He is not merely re-creating existing popular images or established narratives of Americana, his body of work offers an outsider’s translation.
