Vickie Maye has been working out of ECF Art Centers' South L.A. studio since 2004. Vickie has a tremendous love for people, warm friendships and association. Vickie’s work is a response to characters that she admire. Whether it is a photograph of Michelle Obama, Martin Luther King, or the “Cover” Girl on the magazine, Vickie aims to glorify these individuals through colorful portraiture or sophisticated graphite renderings. She is fluent and enjoys working in every medium from pastels to acrylics. In between portraits and studio chitchats about beauty products, she finds time to paint floral patterns as a way to embellish her decorative compositions, or crochet a purse.

“I like to spend my time relaxing, enjoying the weather. I make the flowers ‘cause they’re beautiful, and the ladies are so pretty. I put lipstick on them, so they can find a man. She looking for a man”
