Interview with David Heard

What inspires you to create?

DH: I was always fascinated by the arts, and had a huge interest for developing a skill and craft as an artist. As of inspiration it has been an exciting curiosity to discover a voice in the visual arts. I was fascinated with comic book illustration, along with two-dimensional animation art that has been viewed in television media.

At what age did you start making/drawing? How and why did that continue?

I have been motivated to create art for such a long time, since childhood. I continue this due to further my goals as artist, where I can enhance   skills, and develop a craft for comic illustration. The style I practice, and study are the detailed inking, and the illustration of anatomic drawings  with model profile, and balances of simple, yet exaggerated figures.

What is your preferred medium of choice?

My preferred medium of choice is acrylics. My interest is working with diverse medias of color types.

Why?

I enjoy variety, and the interest in developing the style of eclecticism where there is a diversity of mediums to work with.

Can you discuss another art medium that you utilize to create your work.

I also have an interest in guache and water colors, it's a part of the passion in experimenting in mixed medias, and using this to further along with the goals of enhancing my skills in the arts. In my experience in working with other mediums were free in the pace of the fun in exploring its quality. The other mediums I enjoy are color pencils, and  markers.
