COMMUNITY MURAL AT ECF ART CENTER SAN PEDRO
SAN PEDRO, CA (DATE, 2022) – Exceptional Children’s Foundation’s ECF Art Center San Pedro in collaboration with Muralism celebrated the unveiling of a unique community mural at a ribbon cutting celebration open to the public May 6th, 2022.
The mural illustrates the importance of community and inclusion, and was inspired by and features the work of artists from the ECF Art Centers, Heidi Dong, Sarah Gerke, and Armando Saucedo.
The outdoor ceremonies began at 11:00 a.m., at the ECF Art Center San Pedro, 1125 S. Gaffey Street, featuring community representatives and supporters and an opportunity to meet the artists.
The collaborative project was designed to showcase the rich talent and diversity of ECF Art Centers’ artists and to encourage their inclusion and representation in the community.
Muralism is a Los Angeles based nonprofit dedicated to connecting people with special needs to the community through art. Muralism’s goal is to show how people with disabilities can do productive, valued and beautiful work in their communities. Muralism creates art for the community, by the community.
ECF Art Centers is an adult program of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF), providing adults with developmental disabilities a place to explore their creativity and freedom of expression. At ECF’s five art studios located across Los Angeles County, artists are encouraged to communicate their personal and creative vision. Talented instructors provide artists with guidance in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, and ceramics. ECF Art Centers partner with established local and national galleries, museums and other community organizations to connect artists to the greater art community. Since 1968 ECF’s approach to mentorship and professional development in the arts has been the catalyst for hundreds of artists to achieve their personal and professional goals.
