Laksmi Camp

Laksmi Camp has worked at the ECF Art Centers since 1993. In the studio Laksmi can be found with her head down at her workspace intensely focused on her next piece. She is a painter working almost exclusively in acrylic paint. Her work is largely reminiscent of Australian Aboriginal art, delicately and intuitively labored, featuring dots, lines, and spirals in abstracted patterns. Her creations are a mesmerizing display of color and shape with a flow, rhythm, and life of their own. An artist of few words, her colorful patterns are almost a reflection of the pace in which the work is created. Dizzy pastel and marker circles of various size combined with large sweeping lines fill the space and hold the viewer’s attention.

Her versatile work has been applied to print projects, textiles, and even a commissioned ceiling fan.
