Matthew Beal

Matthew Beal has been working out of ECF Art Centers' Downtown L.A. studio since 2014. Matthew finds artistic inspiration in the world all around him. He works primarily in pencils, inks, and watercolors to create one of a kind illustrations that weave a tapestry of dramatic storytelling. His journeys in life have brought him all the way from Japan to his local swimming classes, all adventures that he documents through his art. A bit of a movie buff, you can often hear him quoting his favorite animated films, and those characters will sometimes find their way into his work. He is keen on honing his craft and works closely with his instructor and pays a great deal of attention to their words of wisdom. “Perfect or Not Perfect.” That’s Matthew Beal.
